Chris Hughton: Not expecting to part with key men in January

Norwich have moved to tie Wes Hoolahan onto fresh terms, but there are no plans to open talks with any other senior stars.

With the club having recovered well from a slow start to the 2012/13 Premier League campaign to move into the top half of the table, there is a chance that a number of their players will attract attention in the New Year.

Hughton, though, claims to be giving little thought to sales, with there a confidence inside Carrow Road that key men will be retained.

He said in the Pink'un: "Am I concerned? No, I think if you concern yourself with that, you drive yourself mad.

"I've got a squad that's pushing very, very hard to make sure they're in the starting XI. I've got a group of lads I like to think are enjoying their football and it's probably not something that's on my mind."

Hughton is, however, giving plenty of thought to possible incomings, with Norwich's fine form over recent weeks likely to make his job of luring players to the club that much easier.

He added: "The best time, of course, is always the summer. That's the time when you can embed players into the squad.

"We brought in eight players in the summer and it gives you an opportunity to do that. January is one we will always continue to look at but if you said to me, 'Are we definitely going to bring in people?', the answer is I don't know.

"I think if you asked anybody if they could strengthen their team, or the squad, then most people would say yes, they would. But it's not as easy as that."
