John Ruddy: Norwich will take no chances with goalkeeper's fitness

The 26-year-old has not featured for the Canaries since the draw at Everton on 24 November when he tore a muscle in his thigh.

Ruddy had an operation to correct the problem and the England international successfully completed 90 minutes of an U21 development game on Monday.

Hughton admits Ruddy will take part in another development match next week, and the Norwich manager will then review the situation.

"The plan is for John to be involved in another game on Monday, then we will have to take it from there," said Hughton.

"The injury is fine, there has been no re-occurrence. We will play another game next week, then assess it from there, but it is certainly good to have him back on the training pitch and around things.

"This weekend is too soon because we have to be conscious John has been out for a long time.

"Whatever games we will have John available for is a real plus and a bonus, so we need to make sure we do it right."

ill any Brazilian parent ever name their child Fred again? I could see it earning similar status as the first name Adolph in Germany (or anywhere, come to think of it).
