Toby Alderweireld: Ajax defender was linked with Roma and Napoli

Belgium international Alderweireld has often been mooted for a move to the Premier League and has reported to have been a target for Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in the past.

Over the weekend, the 24-year-old's representative Soren Lerby claimed that Norwich City had made contact with Ajax regarding a potential bid.

Lerby claims that there is more than one English club chasing Alderweireld, who can play at centre-half or left-back, but he has not been approached by any Serie A sides.

"He is player that is liked by some clubs in England, where there are several clubs who follow him," Lerby told calciomercato.it

"Has there been contact with Roma or Napoli? No, no-one has called me from Italy."
