Christie: No rush over deal

Coventry City defender Cyrus Christie expects to see out the season with the club, but is in no rush to finalise a new contract.

Cyrus Christie: Coventry defender committed until the end of the season

Christie, who has made 100 appearances for the Sky Blues, is out of contract at the end of the campaign and was linked with the likes of Blackburn Rovers and Ipswich Town in the summer.

Speculation has suggested the 21-year-old could again be a target for Championship clubs in the January transfer window, but Christie is not planning to leave Steven Pressley's side midway through the season.

"The gaffer talked to me about staying until the end of the season and I said I am more than happy to do that if that's the case," Christie told the Coventry Evening Telegraph. "A lot could change between now and then but there's no rush on my contract front.

"My contract is still under negotiation but I don't deal with any of that - it's all done between Steve Waggott and my agent.

"I just want to concentrate on my football and I don't really ask what's going on because if there are any updates then I am sure they will come and tell me.

"When it came out that I hadn't signed a few people kind of turned on me but I think the gaffer put it straight and told them that each day I go out to train and give it my all.

"I think I have shown in my performances that I am willing to put in a shift for the team - this is where I started my career and it obviously means a lot to me and I will keep giving 110 per cent in every game."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
