Djibril Cisse: Backed by Hughes to start scoring more after weekend goal

Cisse netted Rangers' equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Reading on Sunday to hand Hughes' struggling side a much-needed point.

The boss feels that strike could be the boost the French frontman needs, having found himself playing second-fiddle to Bobby Zamora so far this season.

"When you've got Djib in your side you've got to create chances for him," Hughes told the Fulham & Hammersmith Chronicle.

"When he gets in good positions and gets in a clean shot inevitably he will score - that's why he was in the side because we felt it was important we had that goal threat.

"We weren't able to get him in that situation often but the one chance he did have he took and we're grateful for that.

"He lives and thrives on goals and the more he scores the better he will play so I think it will do him a world of good."
