Redknapp struggling for sleep

Harry Redknapp: Charged with the task of steering QPR to Premier League safety

Harry Redknapp: Charged with the task of steering QPR to Premier League safety

Redknapp has only been in the Loftus Road hot-seat for a fortnight, but he is already feeling the pressure which accompanies a top-flight basement battle.

QPR remain winless 16 games into the 2012/13 campaign and have already slipped eight points adrift of safety.

Redknapp concedes that trying to mastermind a survival bid is giving him sleepless nights, with one of the most experienced managers in the business painfully aware of the size of the task he has inherited from predecessor Mark Hughes.

"I've got stuff on my mind and it's not been easy (to sleep)," he said in the Evening Standard.

"I was sleeping very well two weeks until I came back to work. It's more difficult because you're lying there waiting for that alarm clock to go off very early.

"You're thinking what you can do, how you can improve it, what's the best team, who can play where? It's a tough job."

While Redknapp is still working on a winning formula, QPR skipper Ryan Nelsen believes performances have improved under the new boss.

He said: "I think we've been a lot better. We've had two awkward away games and got points out of them, so we have to take the positives."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
