Cesar will not take pay cut

Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar is not prepared to take a wage cut to join Napoli after so far failing to agree terms with the Serie A club, according to his agent.

Julio Cesar: Napoli might be turning their attention to Liverpool's Jose Rei

The Brazil international did seem set to move to Italy but the deal has yet to materialise and ambitious Napoli, under the management of new boss Rafa Benitez, have since been linked with Liverpool's Jose Reina.

Reports in Italy now claim the stumbling block has been Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis' failure to offer wages to meet Cesar's expectations.

"The final choice is in De Laurentiis' hands," the goalkeeper's agent, Josias Cardoso, told Radio Crc.

"We have not yet reached an agreement with Napoli about the sum of the goalkeeper's salary.

"They made me a proposal but it is really far from what Julio is currently earning."

There has been speculation that Cesar could move to Napoli on loan and despite QPR boss Harry Redknapp seemingly ruling out the prospect, it appears to remain a possibility.

"Julio would go also on loan to Napoli," said Cardoso.
