Jamie Redknapp told Sky Sports News Radio that, as well as Tottenham midfielder Tom Carroll, his dad would also like to be reunited with Kranjcar, who he signed at both Pompey and Spurs.

"He plays in that number 10 role," Jamie Redknapp said of Kranjcar. "He's a very good player that can link the play.

"If you have followed my dad's career, when he was at Portsmouth he had Paul Merson, who was a brilliant signing when they came up from the Championship to the Premier League, and I think that's what he's hoping Niko Kranjcar can do.

"If you've got footballers in that league that can pass the ball it really does take you a long way. They're two players (Kranjcar and Carroll) that he'd like to bring in just to give them an extra dimension to their play."
