Harry Redknapp: Looking to bolster his coaching ranks at Loftus Road

QPR are looking to reinforce their back-room team after seeing Steve McClaren leave to take the reins at Derby County.

A move for Ferdinand has been mooted, with the former England international still highly-regarded in west London from his playing days - during which he netted 91 times for the club.

Ferdinand was, however, taken to Tottenham Hotspur - another of his former clubs - by Redknapp and it would be difficult to tempt him away from Premier League life at White Hart Lane.

Redknapp said in the Fulham Chronicle: "I think he's well in at Tottenham now, but QPR would be close to his heart."

While a position for Ferdinand is doubtful, Redknapp has opened the door for Gallen to join his ranks - with a man who made more than 400 appearances for QPR over the course of two spells having been relieved of his youth team duties during Mark Hughes' tenure.

He added: "I would like to get him involved with the kids here because he's a real QPR man. There's got to be a place at the club for people like him.

"I did it at Tottenham. I brought Les Ferdinand out of the wilderness if you like, and Tim Sherwood too. They've done a great job at Tottenham with the young players.

"It's good to do that and give these lads a chance. This is Kevin Gallen's club, so I would love to have him back."

till reckon Chelsea will go for Khedira as back up for Matic. I think it will turn out to be quite a Mourihno-y window: We'll see the squad players and youth in action pre-season, say things like well, we need not buy anybody and then the club will bid £60m for Pogba and send everybody on loan.

would love to be a fly on the wall at the meeting between Milner and Rodgers. I don't know if flies can count, but if they can then I would be counting the number of times Rodgers used the word outstanding in his attempts to get Milner to sign.

Reds and Arsenal chase Milner

ell, it wouldn't be a summer without Arsenal fans fretting over losing a key player, and United throwing their weight around and muscling in on transfer deals which are (apparently) near to completion. If we can't be entertained by the football on the pitch, let's enjoy the silly off-pitch soap opera of the transfer season. Hurrah!
