A host of Championship clubs are battling to land Sunderland midfielder David Vaughan, who looks set to leave the club on loan.

David Vaughan: Set for loan move from Sunderland

Vaughan was left out of Sunderland's squad for their win over rivals Newcastle at the weekend, and new boss Gus Poyet is ready to sanction his departure.

Welsh international Vaughan almost left the club in the summer when newly promoted Crystal Palace failed to push through a move.

Now 30-year-old Vaughan, who has played three games for Sunderland this season, is set to leave.

Sky Sports understands Nottingham Forest, Queens Park Rangers, Leicester City, Derby County and his former club Blackpool are all keen to land Vaughan - who is expected to move before the weekend.
