Jamie Vardy hit the only goal of the game in the 41st minute to put the Foxes joint top with Rangers, before Joey Barton was sent off in the 84th minute.

Bond, speaking in place of manager Harry Redknapp, felt his team were unlucky not to score but conceded that they did not create enough chances in the match.

"As much as we tried, we couldn't get the break we needed today. We had half a dozen good chances to make the difference and it just wasn't our day," said Bond.

"It is very frustrating, really.

"We haven't created as many chances as we perhaps want to over the course of the season so far, which is why it has been vitally important we keep clean sheets.

"If you look at the way the game panned out, it just played into their hands. They got men behind the ball, got a bit of pace about them and in the end were a threat on the break.

"It is going to happen, we just need to pick ourselves up as we obviously have a big game with Forest coming up next week."

Barton was sent off for two bookings in the space of a few seconds, the first for an elbow on Gary Taylor-Fletcher and then for kicking the ball at him in the aftermath.

"Joey seems to be the focus on lots of things," Bond continued.

"He had already had conversations with the ref.

"He seems to be the focal point and, in his position, he can't afford to put himself up for anything, really.

"His reputation doesn't do him any favours, for sure."

S I've always envisioned him as a Pirlo or a Scholes, though he needs some of Andy Murray's conditioning and shiny, ankle supports to keep his own from buckling under the tackles that will (inevitably) come his way. He's got the physique and low centre of gravity to flourish, but needs to make himself more resilient.

s a United fan I fell I can say this without accusation of bias, Sergio Aguero is for me the only player close to Ronaldo or Messi, what goes against him is his injury record, Hazard is good in fits but doesn't give enough end product in my eyes, Tevez would be 4th for me
