The Foxes went into the match on a nine-game winless run and fell behind after just three minutes and a David Ngog penalty.
But Leicester turned the match around and twice took the lead to earn a vital victory at the King Power Stadium.
"The players worked very hard and showed a lot of character to come away with the three points," said Pearson.
"I'm pleased with the players but I'm also pleased for them after coming through to win on what could have been a potentially difficult night after falling behind so early to what was a soft penalty in my opinion.
"Bolton have been on a good run and we have been on a bad run and I'm sure some people would have felt 'here we go again'.
"But we showed a lot of character and a lot of moral fibre - and also a bit of quality too.
"However, I don't think that has particularly been lacking in recent games. In the games prior to this we have been unlucky and haven't got what we deserved, the margins are so small."
