David Flitcroft: Barnsley boss has called for patience

Expectation levels were high at the start of the season after the Reds put together an impressive sequence of results under Flitcroft and assistant Micky Mellon during the latter stages of the previous campaign.

Barnsley have failed to maintain that form this time around, but Flitcroft feels his new-look squad will soon bond together in similar fashion.

"We've added to the group with the likes of Dale Jennings, Marcus Pedersen and Jean Yves Mvoto and that settling in period probably hasn't happened yet," Flitcroft said.

"It's been difficult for them because the group was so tight from last season, it's been difficult at times to settle into this squad, but they're getting it game by game.

"We will find that cohesion and I'm not concerned at all with us turning results round, but I want to start seeing stronger performances and we'll get the results, no doubt about that.

"Marcus Pedersen has come here to score goals and once I get my spine of the team out on the football pitch we'll be a lot more competitive than we have been.

"The expectation was always going to be there because what happened at the end of last season was so exhilarating.

"All I can do is to reaffirm to the fans that we're still on plan and we're trying to get better and while I'm the manager we'll strive every day to make sure we do."

ow is the time for Allardyce to finally get a chance at a big club please. He is likely to have a number of great offers for his services this summer, but who will he choose? Will it be Liverpool, Real Madrid, Dortmund or Man City?
