Brek Shea: USA international has struggled since moving to England

The US international has joined the Championship's basement club on a 28-day deal after struggling to break into the first team at the Britannia Stadium.

Shea joined Stoke last January on a four-and-a-half-year contract for £2.5m from MLS side FC Dallas but his career in England has been hampered by niggling injuries.

The 23-year-old has made just five appearances for the Potters and admitted recently he needed to be playing in order to force his way into Jurgen Klinsman's squad for the World Cup.

Shea scored the winning goal for the US in their CONCACAF Gold Cup final win over Panama in July just 42 seconds after stepping off the bench.
