Troy Deeney's stunning 20-yard strike just before the break was enough to hand the spoils to the visitors and get them within one point of Hull who remain in second spot.

"If we're going to do it (automatic promotion), we're going to do it the hard

way like you'd expect the Championship to be," Bruce said.

"Even with six games to go, I'd still expect there to be twists and turns in it. It would have given us a nice lead and a nice cushion with six games to go.

"But I've been at the club eight months and know we're not going to do things easy and I've never done things easy. First half I think they edged it, second half I thought we dominated it but we just didn't get that break.

"For me, the best player was their goalkeeper - in the second half in particular. The one bit of real quality was their goal but I thought a fair result was a draw, myself. I thought it was two teams very evenly matched.

"You can see why they're at the top end of the table and they had the little

bit quality from the fella Deeney, it was a good finish."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
