City lie eighth in the table going into the second international break of the campaign after picking up eight points from their opening 11 matches.

Bruce's side face three tough away games after the break, with a trip to Everton on 19 October followed by back-to-back games at Tottenham, in the league and Capital One Cup.

But for now Bruce is happy to revel in the hard work put in by his side on their return to the top-flight.

"To be fair to them, all of the players have settled well and that is why we are where we are," he told the club's official website.

"We've had seven games and we've taken 11 points, and that's after going to Newcastle, Manchester City and Chelsea.

"It's gone well and if somebody had said that to me, I would have snatched their hand off because we have to remember that we're a newly promoted team.

"There will be times, like on Saturday (a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa), when we don't quite hit the standards but we still get something out of the game."

t's a bloody good goal, though. Sh!t, the kid's gonna be the worlds best before we know it, isn't he? He's got the touch of genius in him. Like Neymar, but with muscles and stuff. He's doing a Ronaldo as we watch. He's bulked up to be able to ride the tackles, but he's improved technically as well. His touch is sublime. Bugger.
