Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has expressed a desire to see Cairney see out the 2013/14 campaign at Ewood Park.

Bruce, though, has noted that the 22-year-old midfielder has been flourishing in the Championship.

A stint away from the KC Stadium was intended to provide a platform on which to build confidence and form.

With Cairney having made the most of that opportunity, there is now a chance that he will have a role to play in the Tigers' Premier League adventure over the second half of the season.

Bruce said: "I'm certainly not dismissing him because I know he's a good player.

"It's in my mind to possibly bring him back in January.

"I've spoken with Gary at length a couple of times in the last few weeks.

"He rings me and I ring him just to see how Tom is doing. He's doing very well, just as I thought he would.

"He's always one of them that's got great ability and it was a matter of time once he started playing regularly."
