Stephen Warnock: Believes Leeds can put a run together and reach the play-offs

Warnock, 31, who joined Leeds from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee on transfer deadline day and signed a three-year contract, was an unused substitute in Saturday's home loss to Cardiff.

It was Leeds' 12th league defeat of the season and meant they remain six points adrift of the top six, but Warnock believes promotion is still a realistic aim.

"It's a big challenge, but the form that the team has got shows that it's more than capable of getting in there," the former England left-back told the club's official website.

"The results against the Premier League teams in the cups show that the team is more than capable of winning games.

"It's just about putting a consistent run together now and proving that you can climb the table."

Warnock, who has two England caps, is hoping to make his debut for Leeds at Wolves on Saturday.

"I always want to play," he added. "It's not great sat on the bench when there is an opportunity to play.

"But I understand the manager's decision, I'm just coming into the club and trying to settle in, we'll just see how it goes from now.

"There are obviously guys in the team that have been playing well. I watched the Tottenham game and Aidy (White) had a great game and is more than capable of doing that job."
