Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones picks his dream five-a-side team...
Stereophonics frontman and Leeds supporter Kelly Jones readily admits, with life on the road keeping him busy, he's less in touch with happenings at Elland Road than he'd like to be.
The Welshman recalls an incident last month when Manchester City fanatic Noel Gallagher got in touch to gloat over his side's 4-0 FA Cup win over Leeds - which Kelly was unaware of.
"I had a text message off Noel a couple of weeks ago, he says 'maybe next season'," he explains. "I was wondering what the **** he was on about. I'd gone to see Django Unchained."
But the frontman was more aware of Leeds' cup exploits back in 2010, when Wayne Rooney - a long-time fan of the band - offered him his box at Manchester United to watch the fierce rivals go head-to-head.
Kelly adds: "I've had the last laugh there, unfortunately for Wayne. He teased me for a while saying we'd got no chance and if we beat them I could have the shirt off his back. Then Beckford scored and we beat them 1-0! So he had to walk into his own box with all my family there and fair play to him, he gave me his shirt."
With Kelly born in Cwmaman, South Wales, his Leeds allegiance seems unlikely but he says it came with having two older brothers who supported the club and handed down a fair share of "itchy, nylon" kits, while videos documenting the Don Revie era were in abundance around the house.
With Stereophonics having recently released their eighth studio album, 'Graffiti On The Train', this week and a run of tour dates lined up, Kelly has little time to see the Whites in action, but was more than happy to regale Sky Sports with his fantasy five-a-side team.
