Robins chief in no mood for drop

Having dropped out of the Championship last term, the Robins currently find themselves second from bottom in League One with six points to show from their first 10 games of the season.

They are also one of only four teams across England's top four divisions still yet to record a league victory.

And Lansdown insists boss Sean O'Driscoll can add to his ranks if the right player becomes available in a bid to avoid a second successive relegation.

"We want to avoid relegation at all costs. We aren't here to get relegated again," Lansdown told the club's official website.

"You have a plan; we are always looking to improve which is the key part of the strategy. You are always recruiting and looking for the next player.

"We will never change the strategy because it is one we believe in. We don't do knee-jerk reactions. There is flexibility in (the strategy), however, as and when you need it.

"If the player identified to make a difference is more experienced than a short-term signing then will we look at it? Yes, if it is the right thing to do.

"If there is a better option who does fit our recruitment and will be a longer-term recruit who they might prefer over the more experienced short-term signing that may mean we need to find some funds to do it.

"The recruitment is focused on under-24s, but it is more of a point to make sure we have some choice as well so we have options so we can choose the most suitable one and deliver it."

Lansdown added: "Everyone is disappointed with where we are (in the league table).

"There was always an expectancy going into this season that we would be a better team at the turn of the year rather than the one we are at the start.

"You would have expected us to have picked up a few more points, that's what has put the pressure into the mix."
