Forest eye Stevenage's Hunter

Sky Sports understands Stevenage's head of recruitment Leon Hunter has been approached by Nottingham Forest.

Hunter, who has been in the role since last January, has a growing reputation within football circles following the impressive work he has done at Stevenage.

Hunter is credited with overhauling their player identification and scouting network and he's also played a key part in the club's new training ground development and academy set-up.

Stevenage continue to impress in League One despite working to one of the most modest budgets and attendances in the league.

The work of Hunter has not gone unnoticed, and he is understood to have attracted the interest of a number of clubs higher up the football league.

Forest's owners the Al-Hasawi family are thought to be keen to implement a director of football role into their management structure and they have a vacancy for such a position after chief scout Keith Burt was axed last month along with former chief executive Mark Arthur and Frank Clark.

Hunter is thought to have been approached about the Forest role prior to Alex McLeish's departure.
