The USA international has agreed a two-year deal and passed a medical to stand on the brink of joining the Championship outfit.

The 24-year-old made 32 Premier League appearances for Villa but was released by Paul Lambert at the end of last season.

Lichaj spent a spell on loan with Leeds United in the second half of last term and has enjoyed previous stints with Leyton Orient and Lincoln.

He is now set to make the next step in his career by putting pen to paper at the City Ground as Billy Davies looks to strengthen his squad for the new term.
