The Reds are expected to be among those challenging towards the top of the second-tier standings and will be determined to get off to a positive start at the City Ground.

A testing opening month of the season will see Forest face Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Watford before travelling to relegated Wigan Athletic on 31st August.

Arch-rivals Derby County are due on Trentside on 28th September, before the Reds go to East Midlands foes Leicester City on 9th November.

Harry Redknapp's Queens Park Rangers will be at the City Ground on Boxing Day and Forest remain on home soil for a clash with Leeds United on 29th December.

They welcome in the New Year away at Reading and take in a return date with Leicester on 15th February.

A trip to Pride Park awaits on 22nd March and Forest will bring the curtain down on their season with away dates at Leeds and Bournemouth and a home clash with Brighton and Hove Albion on the final day (3rd May).

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
