Scott Wiseman: Transfer target for Blackburn & Blackpool

Appleton tried to sign Wiseman earlier this month when he was in charge at Blackpool and had a bid accepted for the defender.

However, Appleton's departure from Bloomfield Road has left Wiseman's move to Blackpool up in the air with no manager in place at the club.

Blackburn are now ready to rival Blackpool for Wiseman's signature with Appleton a big fan of the 27-year-old.

Appleton is the market for defensive reinforcements after seeing Bradley Orr extend his loan spell at Ipswich and Wiseman's versatility, in that he can play at right-back and centre-back, makes him an attractive proposition.

A number of other Championship clubs are also thought to be monitoring Wiseman's situation with Bolton, Hull and Bristol City all admirers.
