Cardiff, Hull, Crystal Palace and Watford all win in promotion battle

Championship leaders Cardiff City continued their relentless push for promotion to the Premier League, but three of the chasing pack also won on Saturday.

Hull City battled past Charlton Athletic at the KC Stadium, but promotion rivals Crystal Palace and Watford were much more emphatic winners.

Ipswich Town picked up a welcome home win over Blackpool, while local rivals Nottingham Forest and Derby County were both frustrated at home.

Fraizer Campbell continued his impressive start to his Cardiff career by scoring a goal in each half as the leaders enjoyed a 2-1 home win over struggling Bristol City.

New signing Mohamed Gedo scored for the second home game in a row as the Egyptian's 33rd minute goal earned Hull City a 1-0 win over Charlton.

Glenn Murray was on target in each half as Crystal Palace produced a commanding display to hammer Middlesbrough 4-1 at Selhurst Park.

Troy Deeney was yet another player to help himself to a goal either side of half-time as the striker's brace was added to by Ikechi Anya and Almen Abdi in Watford's impressive 4-0 win at Birmingham City.

Bolton Wanderers played out the final stages with 10 men to secure a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest after Craig Davies had cancelled out Andy Reid's opener for the hosts.

Michael Chopra scored the only goal of the game five minutes after half-time as Ipswich posted a 1-0 home win over managerless Blackpool.

Wolves continue to hover just outside the relegation zone after a battling performance ground out a 0-0 draw at Derby.

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
