Paul Ince: Aware that he still has a lot of work to do at Blackpool

The Seasiders find themselves short on numbers and need to work quickly if they are to bring bodies on board and integrate them into their squad before the 2013/14 campaign gets under way.

Ince is doing his best to make the required additions, with a number of players offered trial spells.

He hopes some of those will do enough to earn a permanent stay, with the size of the task facing him in his first full season in charge at Bloomfield Road beginning to dawn on him.

Ince said in the Blackpool Gazette: "There's a lot of work to be done. We need to get a core of the team. We probably need seven or eight more players in yet.

"The season is getting closer, so we are playing catch-up."

One of those to have been offered an opportunity to impress is Swedish striker Osman Sow, with the 23-year-old having figured in Saturday's friendly victory over Penrith before flying home to link up with his current employers Syrianska FC.

Ince said: "The boy Osman did well but it's always difficult to play in those games.

"He played for his current club the following day, so he must be shattered."

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
