Ince airs window frustration

Blackpool manager Paul Ince is pleased to still have son Tom on his books at the club, but admits to enduring a frustrating summer.

Tom Ince had appeared to be heading for the Bloomfield Road exit at one stage, with Cardiff City having agreed a deal for the England U21 international.

No transfer was completed, though, as the highly-rated midfielder opted against a switch to South Wales.

Had Ince moved on, he would have helped to generate useful funds for his father.

Ince senior is, however, happy to keep plugging away with what he has available and try to get Blackpool in the best possible shape for the start of a new season.

On his son, Paul Ince told Sky Sports News: "At the moment he's a Blackpool player. It's great that he's still a Blackpool player because we're so short of numbers and he's a goalscorer. He's here until someone tells me otherwise."

Pressed on whether he was close to being where he would like to be at this stage of pre-season, Ince added: "No, nowhere near it. We have had a few issues, we still need eight or nine players. We are miles behind as far as preparation is concerned. It has been frustrating for myself.

"We're trying to get people in, the right type of people - not just the way they play, but their characters and the way they fit into the changing room and the culture of the lads. That's important.

"It's a bit of a rush and I don't think we'll be fully prepared but, at the end of the day, we have still got five or six from last season and the spirit is still there, so that gives us half a chance."

haos reached its ultimate reckoning last weekend with Tony Hibbert looking assured at left back and Osman looking like a cultured ball playing midfielder before busting a gut to get to the back post for a Samuel Eto'o ball. Different chaos but chaos. If Kone scores the winner tonight I fear the world will end.
