Tweet lands Chopra in trouble

Blackpool have fined striker Michael Chopra the maximum amount permitted after he called the club's training a "joke".

Michael Chopra: Yet to score for Blackpool

Chopra posted an expletive-ridden message on his Twitter account after learning Blackpool's fitness coach would be taking a small session on Tuesday.

The message was quickly deleted, but that has not spared the striker a fine of more than £10,000.

A statement on the Championship club's website read: "In light of a tweet from striker Michael Chopra, Blackpool Football Club can confirm that the player will receive a maximum fine and has been warned about his future conduct.

"The club can confirm that Chopra was one of a number of players asked to report to training as normal this morning for extra work with the fitness coach.

"Both the manager and the chairman are aware and disappointed with the contents of his tweet, prompting this course of action."

Chopra joined Blackpool on a free transfer in the summer and is yet to score in 17 appearances.
