Antoine Kombouare: Failed to land himself a Premier League post last summer

Kombouare left Parc des Princes in December 2011, with the ambitious Ligue 1 outfit keen to move in a different direction under a more high-profile manager.

The ex-Aberdeen defender offered enough, though, during his time in the French capital to attract interest from England.

He says he was approached by a number of teams looking for a new boss in 2012, but failed to land himself a Premier League post and ended up heading to the Middle East with Al-Hilal.

Kombouare, who currently finds himself out of work once more, told L'Equipe: "After my sacking from PSG I had a six-month break. Then I wanted to coach in the Premier League, rather than France.

"I had contacts but it was never sorted because I was always the second or third name on the list.

"The contacts? West Bromwich Albion, Swansea and Tottenham. I went to London to meet officials, but it never came to anything.

"I didn't want to join a small club or a small European league, so I finally chose Saudi Arabia.

"Since my departure from Al-Hilal I have had some very serious contacts, but the projects didn't really excite me. I want to manage clubs playing at the top of their league."

irst Townsend, now Chiles. What next ITV? Comedy that you can actually watch without vomiting up your own spleen? I'll be sad to see Matt Smith go though. I actually quite like him. Plus, he was good in Doctor Who.

wful, awful pundit. He was crap on BBC, and offered a little more analysis than Robbie Savage - apart from the delivery of banality in a sexy accent. Also, as I'm Irish he'll never be more then a slimy, hand-balling f**ker in my eyes.
