Angel Rangel: Ready for Europa League test on Spanish soil

The Swans will lock horns with La Liga heavyweights in the Europa League on Thursday.

A trip to the Mestalla would appear, on paper, to be Swansea's toughest test in a group which also includes Kuban Krasnodar and St Gallen.

Rangel acknowledges that Michael Laudrup's side will face a stern test of their continental credentials in midweek, but is looking forward to heading home and helping Swansea to raise their profile away from British shores.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's always great to go back. Hopefully we will be able to show a big side like Valencia and the whole of Spain how good we are as a team.

"It's one of those games where we know we aren't the favourites and away from home it's a difficult game, but we're looking forward to it.

"We know that the Mestalla is a tough place to go and we know that Spanish style of football is always to try and play the ball, combined with attacking intent. We know we will find that on Thursday night.

"Valencia like to press high, they don't give much time to the opposition to play the ball, and they are an opponent that will be a difficult game.

"We have to be at our best, but we're really excited and we know that with the draw we got with Liverpool on Monday we can be confident on Thursday and try to do a good job again."

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
