Bony handed extra training

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has revealed striker Wilfried Bony has been given a personal training programme as the club aim to get the most out of their £12million signing.

Wilfried Bony: Given a personalised training programme to improve

Bony, who made the move from Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem in the summer, has scored just two Premier League goals since his arrival at the Liberty Stadium.

The Ivory Coast international has been left out of Laudrup's starting line-up for Swansea's last two Premier League matches and has only four starts to his name.

However, Laudrup insists the Swans are doing all they can to aid Bony's progress and believes an individual training programme will bring the best out of the frontman.

"We're talking with him," Laudrup told the South Wales Evening Post. "He's something of a special case for a lot of reasons.

"We all know when you have a huge price tag on your shoulders there's always a lot more pressure and expectation on you - that's logic.

"He started playing and in some games he did well, especially the European games and a couple of others.

"But of course we want him to be at his best because I'm the first one knowing the expectation and that everyone is looking at him.

"We are here to help him and that's why we are trying to give him a programme where we are doing extra things with him - to get him at his best."

Laudrup also acknowledged the fact Bony needs time to acclimatise following his move from the Netherlands and insists the 24-year-old will feature when he is ready.

"On top of what I am saying, he is also coming from the Dutch league to the Premier League," he added. "It's a huge step and he needs to adapt, and that is why we're trying to help him, we are all trying to do that.

"It's not that we are saying he's not playing for a month, then he will be back at 200mph.

"Of course he will play games, but we are trying to give him the extra [training] he did not have in the summer."

Swansea travel to Russia to face Kuban Krasnodar in the Europa League on Thursday before hosting Stoke City in the Premier League on Sunday.

h Daniel. I could spend hours on this subject putting the world to rights. You can even take a step back and ask why football fans (and society in general) have this need to know that something will happen before it actually does. There are times this important, when it comes to things like war, food production and natural disasters. A man you've never met changing his job? Not so much.

reat article. Hits the nail on the head. Encapsulates why I don't read tabloid newspapers anymore. The only thing worse is the 'told you so first' headline when they get lucky.
