Garry Monk: Pleased to take a break

With 10 games of the season remaining, Swansea are five points above the relegation zone having just completed seven matches in 22 days.

There are international friendlies in midweek and the FA Cup quarter-finals mean Swansea do not have a league fixture this weekend.

Swansea's next match is against West Brom on March 15 and, looking ahead to his week off, Monk said: "The players need it.

"But I think they're at a level now where they can have the few days' rest that we're going to give them and then be ready to work and all focus onto West Brom."

And Monk remains confident that the Welsh club will avoid slipping into the bottom three between now and the end of the season.

He added: "If they continue to show commitment and appetite to win games they'll be fine.

"But nothing's ever given to you in football. You have to earn it, and they know that."

e're our own worst enemy. We're suicidal in defence, and we may just get slaughtered on Sunday. Other than that, I am very pleased with my team.
