Doncaster Rovers are thought to be the front-runners to secure Dickov's services, but the Scot has now emerged on the radar of managerless Millwall and Sheffield United.

Millwall are searching for a new manager following the departure of Kenny Jackett earlier this week, while Sheffield United are also believed to be drawing up a shortlist of candidates to replace Danny Wilson with Chris Morgan currently in caretaker charge.

Doncaster are also keen on appointing Dickov as they plan for life back in the Championship after Brian Flynn moved upstairs to become director of football at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Former Arsenal and Manchester City striker Dickov is highly regarded in coaching circles after impressing in his first managerial role at Oldham.

Dickov safely secured Oldham's position in League One during his first two full seasons at Boundary Park despite working on a shoestring budget and he is also credited in helping bring through a number of promising young players.

The 40-year-old, who left Oldham in February, also guided the club to one of the biggest shocks of this season's FA Cup with victory over Liverpool in the fourth round.

Dickov now finds himself in high demand with all three clubs keen to install the highly-rated young manager as their new boss for the start of next season.

irst Townsend, now Chiles. What next ITV? Comedy that you can actually watch without vomiting up your own spleen? I'll be sad to see Matt Smith go though. I actually quite like him. Plus, he was good in Doctor Who.

wful, awful pundit. He was crap on BBC, and offered a little more analysis than Robbie Savage - apart from the delivery of banality in a sexy accent. Also, as I'm Irish he'll never be more then a slimy, hand-balling f**ker in my eyes.
