Jack Hunt: Joins Palace on a long term deal

The 22-year-old arrives for an undisclosed fee and has signed a four-year contract with the Premier League new boys.

The Eagles' official website said: "Crystal Palace are pleased to confirm the signing of defender Jack Hunt from Huddersfield Town."

Hunt was a mainstay of the Huddersfield side last season - making 44 appearances as the Yorkshire club maintained their Championship status on the last day of the campaign.

Palace secured their first victory of the campaign on Saturday - Dwight Gayle's late penalty earning them a 3-1 win over Sunderland at a jubilant Sehurst Park.

Speaking on his move to Selhurst Park, Hunt said: "I'd like to thank the chairman Dean Hoyle and the board of directors for everything during my time at the club."

He added on the club's official website: "If it wasn't for them I would have probably moved on after my loans away, but they showed incredible faith and trust in me and have played a massive part in starting my career.

"I would also like to thank all Huddersfield Town fans. As a young player, they really helped me settle into the team - right from my full debut at Arsenal and ever since.

"I've been at the club for a very long time and it will always hold a special place in my heart, but now I have an exciting new challenge to go and play Premier League football against some of the world's best players.

"I've made a lot of friends at Huddersfield Town in terms of players and coaches and I would like to thank them all too.

"With the chairman, Nigel Clibbens, Ross Wilson and the manager Mark Robins in charge, I believe the club's future is very bright."

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
