Nicky Shorey: Joining Brighton for pre-season training

Shorey is available on a free transfer after leaving Reading earlier this summer and he is looking for a new club.

Brighton are in the market for a new left-back having seen Wayne Bridge join Reading after a successful spell on loan from Manchester City last season and also allowing Marcos Painter to leave the club.

Ironically Brighton were believed to be keen on Shorey last summer before they signed Bridge and they have now rekindled their interest in the full-back.

Shorey will spend this week training at Brighton in the hope of securing a move to the club, but any deal is being held up while the Seagulls begin their search for a new manager following the sacking of Gus Poyet on Sunday.
