Jesse Lingard: Agreed a deal to join Brighton on loan

Brighton boss Oscar Garcia is keen to bolster his attacking options and has been tracking Lingard for several weeks.

Lingard returned to Old Trafford last month after a successful spell on loan at Birmingham City, scoring four goals on his debut against Sheffield Wednesday.

Birmingham boss Lee Clark was keen to extend Lingard's loan spell at St Andrew's, but now Brighton have stolen in to lure the England Under 21 international to the Amex Stadium.

United boss David Moyes has sanctioned another loan move for Lingard so that the skilful attacker can get some regular first-team action under his belt.

Lingard scored the winner for United in their Under 21s clash with Sunderland on Monday and his performance impressed reserve team boss Warren Joyce.

"Jesse has been different class," Joyce told MUTV. "His attitude has been great, to come back from starring out on loan to playing Under-21 games that he was doing three years ago and also starring in.

"He still does the right things all the time. His work-rate was phenomenal and his decision-making was good plus it was a great goal for the boy again."

If Lingard signs in time he is expected to go straight into the Brighton squad for this weekend's clash with Millwall.
