Steven Pressley: In contention for the League One Manager of the Month award

Wolverhampton Wanderers, Coventry City, Leyton Orient and Stevenage all had strong Octobers and their managers have been picked out for recognition.

Coventry's Carl Baker and James Henry of Wolves are also up for the Player of the Month prize, along with MK Dons striker Patrick Bamford and Peterborough United goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik.

Here, Sky Sports considers more closely the managers in contention.

Kenny Jackett (Wolverhampton Wanderers)

Wolves went through last month unbeaten, securing 10 points from four games. Jackett has encouraged attacking play on their travels, winning at Colchester United and Bradford City, and has made Wolves fans believe in their team once again.

Steven Pressley (Coventry City)

Coventry started the season in deep trouble with a ten-point deficit but are now closing in on the play-offs after another stellar month. The Sky Blues collected 13 points from a possible 15, inflicting a first defeat on leaders Leyton Orient and drawing at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Russell Slade (Leyton Orient)

The question of how his side would react when they stopped winning every game was answered emphatically. Three wins and a draw from five games kept Orient top, underlining the deep-seated belief he has instilled.

Graham Westley (Stevenage)

Stevenage made a poor start to the season but Westley revived their fortunes last month with three wins, recording their first home victories of the season against Brentford and Crawley Town and making them difficult opponents once again.

Sky Sports also takes a look at those in the mix to be named Player of the Month.

Carl Baker (Coventry City)

Baker caught the eye with his passing ability and captaincy as he drove his side through an unbeaten October, but the highlight was a mazy run and long-range strike which put his side on their way to a 3-1 win over Leyton Orient.

Patrick Bamford (MK Dons)

The on-loan youngster continued his cultured hold-up play and free-scoring ways with four goals which included a wonderfully cushioned control and assured finish against Gillingham and a pinpoint late winner over Rotherham United.

James Henry (Wolverhampton Wanderers)

Henry has given Wolves a new dimension with his traditional wing play and a wonderful array of crosses since joining on loan from Millwall. He provided a hat-trick of assists in the 3-0 win at Colchester United, another at Bradford City and has scored twice himself.

Bobby Olejnik (Peterborough United)

Peterborough had a wonderful defensive record last month as they kept four clean sheets and conceded just a single goal. Goalkeeper Olejnik was instrumental in their success as he dominated his area and produced a number of fine reaction saves, notably late on in the win over Shrewsbury Town.

PSG were probably not interested and he is stuck with no cake and no vacation. @Jay_D> Surely you jest about FFP being real, right? All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
