Bury's friendly match against Club Brugge scheduled for next week has been called off by the Belgian outfit.

Gigg Lane: No Club Brugge visit

The Shakers were due to take on Club Brugge at Gigg Lane on Wednesday night, but the Belgians have confirmed they cannot fulfil the fixture.

A statement on Bury's official website read: "Although the club have written confirmation of the game, agents representing the Belgian club contacted the club late on Friday afternoon to confirm that Club Brugge would be unable to fulfil the fixture as promised.

"The club would like to apologise to all supporters for the late cancellation of this game, the decision that has been made is totally out of our control.

"The chairman is working hard at the moment with regards to re-arranging another game on the same evening, with another club on tour in the UK, and will let supporters know via our website once we have details confirmed."
