Evan Horwood: Has dropped into the free agent pool

The 27-year-old old defender has turned down the offer of a new contract at Hartlepool United and saw his departure from Victoria Park confirmed on Tuesday.

Horwood is set to take on a new challenge after three years at Hartlepool.

He made well over 100 appearances for the club over the course of his stay, but feels the time is right to start afresh elsewhere.

It is believed that a host of clubs in League One have already set their sights on securing his services.

It is easy to see why, with Horwood regarded as a key contributor to many of Hartlepool's goals over the past two years.

He is able to influence proceedings at either end of the field and is likely to have a number of options to consider over the coming weeks.
