On-loan Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford set up Luke Chadwick's opener and then sealed the win himself in the 90th minute after Shaun Williams had netted a brilliant free-kick, while Callum McGregor replied for the winless Magpies.

Robinson, who turned 33 on Friday, said: "I don't think Notts County could have had any qualms if we had won that by five or six.

"The first 45 minutes was sensational, we missed so many chances but it was it was a proper performance.

"In the second half we found it hard to hit the dizzy heights of our consistency and quality in the first half. But we probably created better chances in the second half than we did in the first, we just didn't put the ball in the net.

"If I had been sat here after a 2-2 draw I would have been absolutely mortified but the boys responded and Patrick went and got us his token goal.

"People will say they are bottom of the league but when you look at the squad they've got, that's not going to be a team that should be down there for long.

"We've had a wonderful start to the season and it's my birthday weekend so I'm going to enjoy this - it's going to be a good weekend."

Chadwick handed the Dons a dream start after just five minutes when he neatly swept home Bamford's cut-back before Williams curled in a fine 25-yard free-kick.

The visitors improved after the break and McGregor handed them a lifeline when he raced clear to slot the ball past goalkeeper David Martin in the 76th minute.

But Bamford rammed in a loose ball at the death for his sixth goal of the season to maintain his record of scoring in every home game.

t's why Mourinho is so successful. He gives players a specific, limited set of functions to perform. They are but a cog in a machine. Do no more, do no less. I assume he learnt it from LvG :)

really hope that someone in the mainstream media spots that the Bayern manager played for and managed Barcelona quite well, and thinks to mention it in the build up. That would be really interesting.
