Karl Robinson: Looking forward to the derby

Saturday sees the first meeting between the two clubs since May 2011 when Posh edged a thrilling League One play-off semi-final 4-3 on aggregate. A defeat, the manner of which, Robinson admits still angers him.

According to the 33-year-old that whole tie turned on a controversial red card for Dons midfielder Stephen Gleeson late in the first leg which allowed Grant McCann to score from the penalty spot and bring Peterborough back to 3-2 on the night, giving them a boost going into the second leg.

Gleeson's red card was overturned and he played in the second game but was unable to prevent the Dons losing 2-0 and Posh went on to secure promotion to the Championship in the final at Old Trafford.

Despite the animosity he feels towards Peterborough, Robinson admits he has missed playing Posh.

"I have missed it," he said. "It is a local game that the fans love, and I love it too.

"When the fixtures came out, Peterborough was the one we all looked for. Internally, neither side will be treating it differently but it is not a normal game. It is worth a little more than three points.

"Being from Liverpool I am brought up in a city environment where there are derbies. Growing up as a kid I always looked for the Everton game - it is what we thrive on.

"This is a derby slash we don't really like each other game, that is where the rivalry and derby-feel has come from.

"And I love those sort of games. I love derby games. I can't wait."

t's wrong to be making a joke out of Bender's name at the expense of gay people. It's the kind of childish, uncivilised thing that Football365 would deride and ridicule if it was another media outlet saying. Why is there a need for jokes like this? Does it make your writers feel like men? F365 might suggest that I 'lighten up', but it is genuinely traumatic for people who have been oppressed all their lives to be the butt of jokes, and to be told...

ou can't blame De Gea for wanting to leave, he has enough to do in front of goal as it is as well as taking on the role of Man Utd's version of Derek Acorah in trying to contact and organise a defence that isn't there.
