The Dons defeated the Championship club 1-0 on Sunday thanks to a well-taken goal from midfielder Ben Reeves, in long-serving defender Dean Lewington's testimonial match.

"It was a good run-out. It was important we had this type of game, the level of quality increased and the intensity picked up a little bit," Robinson told the club's official website. "The players picked up as well, they performed probably better than they have done all pre-season.

"It's a step in the right direction for us. There are things still to tinker with and change but as a whole, the fans and everybody inside the stadium can walk away feeling very pleased with the performance. It was a good afternoon for us.

"It was nice to get a win back at stadium:mk as it's been a while! There were a lot of positives to take out of the game and hopefully we can build on this moving forward.

"I'm not getting carried away, there is still a lot of work to do. We've got two more weeks to work on a few things and maybe bring in some more new players. Hopefully we can do that and move on from here."
