Mettam has been in blistering form for the Northern Premier League side, scoring 33 league goals this season, including four hat-tricks.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, and it is understood that a number of clubs from higher up the football pyramid are monitoring his situation.

Sheffield United, Peterborough United and Doncaster Rovers are all believed to be chasing Mettam.

Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough is thought to have watched him in action on Saturday as he scored twice against Skelmersdale.
