In a game devoid of quality neither side was able to create any real chances at Deepdale, a result that keeps Bury deep in a relegation dogfight.

He said: "Coming away from home it's always important to try and get a result, that's for sure, but maybe we're slightly disappointed that we didn't win the game in the end.

"When you come to Preston, with the team Graham Westley is building if you don't fight and match them then they'll hit you and they'll hit you hard.

"When you come away from home you can't be bullied but this is a particular place where they like to do that to teams.

"My larynx will tell you what was said to them at half-time. I told them they've got to believe more and I thought second half we took the game to them and looked a real threat.

"We've had three or four chances where we could have done better - a better ball, a bit of composure - but that'll come.

"Clean sheets win you games, and that clean sheet meant we were the more threatening at the end, because we had something to hold on to."
