Askey & Sodje linked with Gillingham & Bury jobs

Macclesfield management duo John Askey and Efe Sodje are in the frame for the manager jobs at Bury and Gillingham.

League One outfit Gillingham are searching for a new manager after parting company with Martin Allen on Sunday, while Bury chief Kevin Blackwell was sacked on Monday.

Askey and his assistant Sodje took control at Macclesfield in June and they have impressed at Moss Rose in recent weeks.

Macclesfield have won five of their last six games to help climb the Conference table after a slow start to the campaign.

Bury and Gillingham have been alerted to the duo with Askey and Sodje yet to sign long-term contracts at the club with both men working on month-month deals.

Sode is a former Bury and Gillingam player with the Nigerian having only left Gigg Lane in the summer to work alongside Askey at Macclesfield.
