Kris Commons: Celtic midfielder looking for consistency this season

Commons admits the players were guilty of easing off in some of their domestic games last term to focus on the Champions League.

And while the approach resulted in Celtic clinching a domestic double while progressing to the last 16 in Europe's premier competition, Commons would like to try and win the title earlier this time.

"We put 110 per cent into the Champions League and probably 95 into league games," he said.

"That's where we slipped up. You can't turn up at the Nou Camp or go to Juventus and think you'll put all your eggs in one basket. Then against Ross County away, have a dip and think, 'who cares if we lose or win?'

"This season I want to try to approach every game like it's the Champions League and hopefully wrap up the league sooner rather than later.

"When you think you don't need to be 100 per cent, you end up losing. It's vital we perform in Europe and the league. The league is our bread and butter."

f I were Manuel Pellegrini I would keep quiet and hope the Board didn't notice City not winning anything. If he isn't sacked I'd be astonished.
