The Nigeria defender only arrived back in Glasgow on the morning of the match after helping his country to African Nations Cup glory on Sunday night.

But Celtic manager Neil Lennon decided to include him in the starting line-up in a gamble that backfired spectacularly on the night.

Ambrose gifted Alessandro Matri an early goal, missed Celtic's best chance of the night and lost the ball to allow Mirko Vucinic to score a late third goal.

Commons said: "Look, the manager picked him. The manager pulled him to one side and asked him if he was feeling okay. He said he was feeling brilliant.

"If he wasn't feeling okay then he should have said so.

"If he felt good then he should have put in a better performance."

Commons added: "It was just very sloppy individual mistakes - something you'd probably get away with on a playground, not in the last 16 of the Champions League.

"There are certain individuals who let the team down.

"Hopefully this is just a one-off. The back four have made errors which have probably cost us the tie. But it's partly down to them why we're here in the first place.

"It's just a bitter one to swallow."

Commons also pointed the finger at the Spanish officials over their failure to punish some extra-tight marking as Juventus defended set-pieces.

Commons said: "The whole idea of the official behind the line was to look out for this kind of stuff, and if he can't identify when people are being hauled, man-handled or wrestled to the floor, I don't think he should be in a job."

All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
