The Scottish Football Association issued Lennon with a notice of complaint for his alleged 'failure to behave in a responsible manner as an occupant of the technical area by the use of offensive, insulting and abusive language' at St Mirren Park on Sunday.

Microphones on the touchline appeared to pick up the Irishman 'swearing' at Saints captain Jim Goodwin following a tackle near the dugouts.

Lennon, who has until 10 April to respond to the charge, already has a three-game ban suspended from last season which could now be taken into consideration.

After Sunday's match, Lennon admitted his concern over the standard of refereeing citing a number of 'questionable decisions' by referee Bobby Madden.

Madden missed a clear penalty for St Mirren shortly before half time and controversially sent off Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama for a tackle on Paul McGowan before awarding Saints a penalty when Esmael Goncalves appeared to dive outside the box midway through the second half.

The Portuguese striker has already been offered a two-match suspension for alleged simulation by SFA compliance officer Vincent Lunny after a video review of the incident.

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
