The midfielder, who had been sidelined since February, featured for 61 minutes as the Hoops eased to victory ahead of the presentation of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League trophy.

He said: "It's a special day, to do it at home means a lot.

"We've two games left before the cup final and we showed we're sharp, we're looking forward to it.

"I felt fine, it's 60 minutes under my belt and hopefully another game next week as well.

"It has been a nightmare. I am not the best spectator in the world. But as everything has been going so well recently I joined in with the lads last week in training.

"I didn't know I was going to start. I am a good couple of weeks ahead of schedule."

Goalkeeper Fraser Forster added: "It's been a hard season's work and it's the best way to finish the season, and obviously we've got the cup final to look forward to.

"We've probably exceeded expectations in the Champions League really and we've won the league comfortably, we've not really got out of third gear in the league but we've done the job comfortably."

o be fair, one of the reasons its so difficult for certain clubs to get close to Real Madrid or Barcelona is once they have a player who is good enough to compete against the likes of Real Madrid or Barcelona, they f*ck off, usually to either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

nd we always will love Ozil. I don't really mind if no other team can see just how brilliant he is, or if people think he is rubbish, because we know he is far from it. He is a fantastic player, and if people cannot see that it can only be a good thing, in that he will be at Arsenal for years to come, pulling the strings from behind a glass veil.

like the list and Ozil in particular does seem under appreciated when you look at his stats (an odd thing considering his fee or maybe because of it). Palace have a few and I've always thought Dwight Gayle at Palace was under rated, certainly when you look at his goals per game ratio. You can probably also add Ryan Bertrand at Saints who should be in the England team in my view.
