The game takes place at 5.30pm on Saturday, August 10 with tickets, which go on sale later this month, priced between 10 and 55 euros.

Liverpool chief commercial officer Billy Hogan said: "We last played Celtic almost a decade ago so we are thrilled to get this event in our pre-season calendar.

"Both at Liverpool and Celtic we are fortunate to have two of the most passionate fan bases in the world and this fixture is a chance to bring them together once again."

Speaking at the launch of the 'Dublin Decider', Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring said: "This is going to be a fantastic Gathering event and I'm excited about it already.

"It's not every day you can welcome two famous clubs from overseas with such strong Irish connections.

"I want to thank the FAI and both clubs for organising this game, and I look forward to greeting the fans when they come to Ireland."

The sides last met in a friendly in the USA in July 2004 which Liverpool won 5-1.
